The Sun Mask is worn by the Bwa tribe This circular mask represents the sun snd worn by a skilled dancer. It is used during age old ancestral dances and traditional during agricultural ceremonies to celebrate and bless the planting of crops and forthcoming harvest.
The Bwa Tribe occupy large areas of Mali and Burkina Faso, extending from the banks of the Bani River in Mali in the north almost to Diebougou and the Ghana/Burkina border in the south.
